Articles in Action
Join 5/6J as we explore ‘Articles in Action’
Our class text this term is ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’, a story about how one ordinary nine-year-old child and three classmates, are full of empathy for Ahmet, a boy that comes to their school as a refugee. The text will help children to think about what it is to be a good person, whatever your circumstances, to challenge prejudice and push for fairness whenever possible.
Alongside our class text, we will be exploring the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We will look at how children live in different parts of the world and the variety of reasons that children and their families seek refuge in the UK.
In line with the new Successful Futures Curriculum, ‘pupil voice’ is stronger than ever. The children have generated lots of fun and exciting ideas they would like to explore through all 6 of the Areas of Learning Experience.
